Ruf Replica Gray Metallic - Modding Commences

I scored a new set of Ruf replicas in gray metallic last week from Ray at ROTtec. I've searched for something unique, although I know how some might feel about any replica even though wheel designs are at some point are a "replica" of someone else's design (so much for rationalization).

The wheels are heavy, but then I'm not going to use the wheels for tracking. I have my 18" wheels/tires for that.

In any case, the setup is based on the Turbo/C4 offsets. I've searched and found some who felt it wouldn't work because it's overly aggressive, but I've not found that to be the case as several are running the same offset on the NB.

I plan on running the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110 in 305/30 ZR19 (r), and 235/35 ZR19. I'm informed the tire design is angled as opposed to squared as with the PS2 and the like. I used to run PS2 on my M3 and liked them. The "Ventus" has received excellent reviews on TireRack.

The wheels arrive tomorrow. The car is in the shop having rock chip repairs, new windshield (pitted and annoying), and generally getting a makeover. It'll be mid-April before she's out of the shop.

I'll be lowering the car on H&R springs. I had also purchased a set of H&R street coilovers (both sets new), but decided to return them as I don't really think this car is all that drivable when lowered beyond the 1.25" drop provided by the springs without constant scraping. My M3 was slammed on KWv2 and I loved it, but it didn't have as long of a nose as the 997.

Here are the wheels. I think they're going to look terrific on black. I did a photoshop using another member's car to see what it would look like versus hyper silver or a black wheel - I love the contrast of gray metallic.

Yes, they are heavy but that'll just be the "street" application. I'm going to get some good rubber for the Carrera 18" on the car for the track.

The specs on the Ruf reps (TUV appproved):

19 x 8.5 ET58 26lbs
19 x 11 ET51 29lbs

The grey metallic should look great on your car.

Thanks. I liked the hyper silver but wanted something different. I also love the fact they come with matching caps.

They look awesome. Wonder how they'll look on my silver GT3. I think I want a set.

Ray (ROTtec) is terrific to work with and the wheels are such a great deal. I'm going to score the LEDs soon from him, and I noted all his carbon fiber parts - the mod bug has hit. Now I have to get the H&R springs installed as soon as the car is out of the shop next week.

Mod bug has hit me as well. I have an '07 GT3 and already replaced the tailights with Dectane LED units, had the steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara with Yellow Stripe, and now looking for a set of wheels - will probably order RotTech's LED DRL's along with the wheels. E-mailed him already.

Wheels came in today - nicely packaged - had to take them out. Thanks Ray!

Tomorrow tire purchase. Regretfully no mount for another week until car's out of the shop.

Regrets on the poor iPhone photos.

Hang in there until Friday or Saturday. The car is scheduled to come home on Friday and they'll be mounted.

Tires mounted - 1 more day until she's out of the shop - can't wait.

Regrets on the iPhone pictures as my camera is in Amsterdam at the moment (daughter).

Man, I really hope that look makes up to you for those being heavy reps. From my exprience those are the biggest NO NOs when it comes to wheels, nothing worse than a heavy soft wheel. But that's just my opinion... don't listen to me.
