CLUNKING noise coming from right wheel area

Most of you know i have my car pretty slammed. Im pretty good on avoiding pot holes and hitting **** on the road. But now when I'm hitting stuff a little hard i hear this loud clunking noise. I'm thinking it might be some metal hitting against something. One of the joints maybe i don't know. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

on mine it was a worn strut mount bearing (top of front left shock). they are made of rubber and wear down over time -- a very common cause of clunking noise. u can use a floorjack to raise the chassis as much as possible while leaving the wheel on the ground. this will allow you to inspect the mount (with a flashlight).

The way you dropped your ride height down you got all control arms out of their optimal position. If you had contact between 'em they could be bended now, it is impossible to say what makes a rattle until someone will check. It may be droplinks, mounts, springs, who knows.
Only cup cars get dropped that low and they have different parts with different geometry that allows this. Street cars do not.

it cost me around $125 or so for the parts from dealer and maybe $150 or 200 in labor from the indy. i'm not mechanically adept but judging from what i was shown i don't think it's too complicated.

to check if it is a strut mount - open frunk, get in and try to rock the car or jump a bit - you should be able to locate or fiil if strut mount bearing got a play.
most typical source of a loud clunks is a droplink from sway bar when it gets loose.
then one by one every arm you got there should be inspected.

also, as you got 2006 car - check tie rods (steering arms) - i am going next week to mechanic to get mine replaced and he says in 4 months time it is 6th 2006 car he is doing this work on. he says it could have been bad batch of part at the factory, who knows.
to check on that you raise your car and try to jiggle wheel in a horizontal plane - if it got any play with steering wheel not moving - it may be a problem.

Thanks man.. Great info. I will get all this checked out. Was going to do it today but lazy. I think its the strut mount because its only when the wheel is pushed straight UP... so I'm thinking thats just it. But ill have them check everything.
