Paint Characteristics of Porsche Factory Paint.
Paint Characteristics of Porsche Factory Paint.
What are the characteristics of Porsche paints?
Lamborghini paints are considered some of the hardest in the industry. Mercedes paints are also considered hard and hold up well.
What are the qualities of the Porsche factory paints? Have they changed over the years as to the formula and if so what are the pros and cons of the paint today.

From what I have heard from several professional detailers is that porsche paint is relatively soft. Also, you might get some good feedback if you post this in the detailers section as well.
My detailer (who, by the way, is a friggin magician!) has also mentioned the softness of Porsche paint.
I see lots of orange peel in my 09...

Ironically, I just started having problems with my paint:

I've had problems with the paint on my car too. A few months after I bought it I noticed watermarks and little pits in the paint that would not come off. I think the water marks must have Ben from the water where I live and was washing my car, you can't drink the tap water, it has a very metallic taste. The little pits all over the car; however, I have never been able to figure out.
I had a paint correction done where they sanded/buffed/compounded/waxed the whole car. It looks much better now, but you can still tell if you look close on a sunny day.

Very soft compared to my bmw's. If something so much as touches the porsche paint, there's going to be a mark. Clear bra is a must.

Had a memorable 96 Maxima that gained a lot of stone chips right out of the showroom. I was so disgusted I only kept the car for a year. I still have our 91 Mercedes's paint looking like new.
I thank heaven that I have a clear bra on the 911 every day. My wife scratched hers on her van, I peel it off and noticed it was yellowed. I contacted 3M, and they said it was only guaranteed for three years. I guess I am thankful we've had it for much longer.
Slightly off topic - Does the Dr. Colorchip solutions work well for anyone?
