check engine visit workshop

Hopefully someone knows... This morning I was driving my 997.2 for about a half hour and then shut the car off. Ten minutes later, restarted, drove for 2 blocks reving about 6k and then the "Check Engine Visit Workshop" display came on, along with a non flashing yellow icon.
Any insight on this? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Go to autozone and buy a code reader or have them read it. You can get one for $40 . I will take a random shot an o2 sensor is having issues. Post the code when you get it.

I had a similar experience when my ignition coils were cracked.. Dealer replaced under CPO warranty. Less than a week later it threw the same message, apparently misfiring.. they flashed the ECU and since then the problem has been solved.

Just came from dealer. bad fuel cap gasket... go figure! Everything OK now. It should say check fuel cap so we don"t panic when we see check engine.

There is probably a lot of error codes that show up as 'System Fault Visit Workshop'. The 'Front Control Unit' being one. It's sort of the 'catch-all' display for miscellaneous faults or errors. I say as long as the message isn't linked to a significant condition or observation (ie. over temp oil or water, oil pressure, pools of liquid under the motor, etc) it shouldn't be considered catastrophic in nature.

The most current version/part number of the gas cap ends in .03. That is what I have an .03 on mine with a manufacture date of 10-2005. I wonder if any updated part is on the way or just treat it a "wear" part & replace every 4-5 years. We all know rubber "O" rings can't last forever.

I agree, however my car is 2 1/2 years old with 6K. I have only filled it up w/gas 20 or 25 times. Doesn't make sense. Anyway I'm happy the problem was resolved w/ no major issues!
