Bye Bye Carrera S. Hello 911.

speaking of bad car wash..

the tip of 'C' on the Carrera S broke off while drying the car (pic 1)

Doh !

so i took the whole emblem off..
(hair dryer & floss.. then goo-be-gone to clean.. followed by a soap & water with rinse.. buff with instant wax)

and even contemplated leaving it as is.. (pic 2)

then decided to put on the black '911' emblem i bought from eric @ bumperplugs a while back.

very easy to put on once u center it.. (pic 3)

and Voila ! (pic 4)

i think i will leave it like this for a while then probably go back to the original 'Carrera S' in silver.

Looks good, very clean. Thanks for sharing.
I've been thinking about doing something like this also, but I would like to keep the 4S designation. Anyone ever done a 911 4S?

Nice job. I like the black badge. Just as a comparison, I opted for the chrome since it better matches my CHR BBS's. Here is the same Arctic Silver with the Chrome 911 badge.

Mine had the Carrera deleted when I bought it used so I added the black 911 emblem just like you. IMO, a very subtle mod that only P-cars owners would probably realize isn't OEM.

Ah contrare my friend. The '911' on the back of the 997.2 (can't speak for other models) was/is INDEED a factory/dealer option, thus 'OEM'. The defacto badge as we all know was the Carrera, S, 4S, Turbo, etc. However for the small price of $100 you too could have bought your p car with this 'enhancement'.

How did you center it so well.
I don't trust myself so I'm having Greg at House Auto do it.
I first need to paint it GT Silver to match my wheels.
No I'm not paying $100 to have anyone paint it, I'm sure I can find a close matching color.

Nice! That's making lemonade out of lemons (or a better adage "beer out of a bag of nasty, rank, wet, fermenting barley")

its pretty easy..

and mine is def not perfect.. lol

i had my gf hold the dental floss from the rear vent to center of the license (eyeballed it ) - see pic (i borrowed daberlins pic)

i see daberlin decided to center the height as well, but the original script was set slightly below center.

after trying both placement, i decided to maintain the original height.

Nice job with my pic! If I asked MY wife for some dental floss to use on the car, she might pull off her underwear. (She thinks my car is my mistress).

I did indeed center both in height and width. I used a grease pen to strike a level adjusted line in both directions and lined up the center point on the rectangular shaped paper covering the 911 badge. I think it looks factory. The dealership thought it was factory. Sometimes however I do get cross-eyed looking at it thinking it is crooked.

BTW - Someone should build a template and save it as a PDF so people could print it out and use it. The 911 997.2 Ultimate Factory episode showed how the GT3 badge is placed on the car. It was simply a template that they line up on the rear lid and drop the badge into the cut out. It was very cool little trick.

The black Carrera 4S on the red car looks pretty damn good. That's my fav of the three shots.
