Are deer whistles effective

my wife car was hit a deer last month, but no injuries, bodyshop bill is $8K(thru insurance). want to find out if deer whistles avoid these type of incidents in future to my cars, especially my 911. anyone installed ? if yes where in the car? which one you bought?

Finally, Are deer whistles effective?

Yes, very effective...

... at filling coffers for those who make 'em.

Sorry to hear of your wife's misfortune. It is troubling when it happens (I hit one last fall in my SUV) but they are not the least bit effective from everything I've ever seen/heard/read/experienced. That said, if putting them on will give her peace at mind, then by all means do it.

Good luck

They don't work.

as a motorcyclist (you really don't want to hit a deer on a motorcycle) you learn to be super careful at dawn and dusk, and to watch out for clearings (especially sloped ones) as you ride.

The best way to avoid a deer is to see it.

Oh, and where there are one, there are usually more. If you see one crossing the road, another is likely right behind.

as long as it doesn't give her a false sense of security and make her less cautious

Deer are stupid. They will run right into your car. At night, they will go straight into the headlights. Ask me how I know this. Devouring your shrubbery and garden is not all they can do. The best method to deal with them is suitable collision insurance.
