Porsche 911 (997) C4 Single Turbo 525hp

Picked up this 06' Carrera 4 Late last year. I had thought about adding a Turbo to my 987 Boxster I had prior. At the time I couldnt find much data or packages available to Turbo a Boxster. I seen the Kit that TPC had available for the Carrera and thought that I would be able to have a similiar kit built for less. In the end it cost me more than an off the shelf TPC turbo package but I did use a few better components. Stock it made 260rwhp. Currently running at 7psi it makes 455rwhp on a Superflow dyno. I have been told that this type of dyno reads lower than a Mustang and Dynojet.

When we tried to run 8psi of boost the Clutch slipped. I will be installing an upgraded clutch next. So far so good, have put over 500 miles on it and am very happy with the end result.

I know many people dont take this route and do not know the limits on this engine, I hope to not be "That guy" who finds the limit of the 3.6 NA 997 Engine

Components:
Twin Scroll Precision Billet DBB 6766 Turbo
2 Tial Wastegates
Front Mounted Heat exchanger
Large Air-Water Fender mounted Intercooler
Protomotive 60lb injectors
Protomotive Tuning

I also had some Champion Lowering springs installed and a set of HRE Wheels.

-Rob

I assume the carboned up side is where exhaust gas flows, and the shinier side is where the waste gate resides ?

Please correct me if I'm wrong BaldBag.

I'm impressed, you built your own turbo! Wow! How did you map the ECU?

did you drive it while disconnected? kind of like a 997.1 GTS, albeit with quite a bit more power. if i remember correctly, disconnecting the driveshaft was a popular mod in the 996 Turbo crowd for a while.

Currently I have been driving it in RWD. I knew coming off the dyno I would have to replace the clutch in the very near future and I would replace the Driveshaft.

I had the option to make the Right exhaust tips for the Wastegate. But never was a fan of the open wastegate sounds. The space is just too tight for a true dual exhaust with the mufflers I choose. Currently those tips are just there for symmetry. I am looking into a GT3 rear bumper conversion with the center exit exhaust, which will eliminate the need for the 4 pipes out back.

Impressive work. I hope to go with a TPC turbo in the near future. I miss having that level of power on tap. My E46 M3 was FI and loved it.

The power increase over stock is great. The TPC kit looks like a nice well sorted package. A very nice option for those looking to go Turbo!

I know this is was older post, but do you have any more detailed photos BaldBag?

I'm currious where you positioned your air/water intercooler. I am needing to go with a larger air/water intercooler than what is in my stock tpc kit to get cooler (iat).
