997 detail removing swirls..

My 997 was begining to bother me as the original owner ( or dealer) had done lots of wiping down of the car or washing with the wrong stuff... So, I used a porter cable 7424 polisher, a swirl remover and then a polish and then a sealer by hand... I feel I got it looking much better. It s hard with white to see the swirls most of the time so I did use a LED Brinkman light to check my work as I went along. This was not my first detail but was my first on the Porsche and I was a bit on edge while working.

Great job! Mind sharing what Polishes and stuff you used? I am right now debating buying a Flex orbital and trying my hand at it for the first time and am investigating all the stuff I need to buy.

you can use any orbital waxer/polisher, and a clear coat polish like Clean Cut

I went on autogeek and got the porter cable 7424 and swirl remover kit was included, and three pads all for under $200.... Pinnical Seris XMT swirl remover and then XMT Polish...
I used the orange cutting pad first then the fine grey for polishing, then a sealant by hand. I would use any swirl remover and polish and have some other brands in my garage but decided to use what they sent.
It takes pratice but I have used a rotary polisher many times but wouldn t use that kind of power on my Porsche. Watch the vids on how to use to PC 7424 for helpful tips. Maybe do the wifes car first

Dual Action

Use a Dual Action polisher. CAN NOT screw up, very easy to use too.
I use Meguiars 205 for light swirls, 105 for deeper swirls. Both w an orange sponge.
BTW; Autogeek has a 20% off today.
