Front Window Tint?

Anyone have their front window tinted? You like it? How about at night? Did you go with 50, 60 or 70% tint? Here in AZ it would be functional, only reason I am interested - keep car cooler.

Not an expert on front window tint. My only experience is with mid 80's cars that had tinting on the top 20-30 percent of the windshield. I personally think you are better off using sunglasses to control the sun while driving vs. front window tint, but your call. I get your point on the sun exposure when parked...could you maybe use one of those folding reflective pads that were popular like 10 years ago?
Also...I think front window tint is illegal in may jurisdictions...you might end up dealing with "fix-it tickets" all day long.

Not debating legality, with 70% you would never see it.

Others will reply. It's not the shade % but the heat it keeps out. Think fronts are ceramic and they're generally transparent.

You can go with Solar Gard Ultra Performance 75. It's practically clear, yet blocks out 44% infrared and 99% ultraviolet spectrum that causes heat and interior damages, IIRC.

I went DIC at 73% and barely noticed a difference in visibility. After I had it done I wasn't able to drive the car for a week and actually forgot I had the tint done! lol If I had to redo it I would need to carefully consider 63% vs. 73%...It made a noticeable difference in cabin temp IMO since the car is facing the sun when parked at work. I would say go for it and worst case scenario you have it removed if you don't like it.

FYI, the rest of the car is done at 32%.

just make sure u r not one of those people that are extra-sensitive.

i've heard of few people who complained about dizziness/nausea when driving with front tinted

I did ceramic fronts @ 45% barely visible ( clear visibility ) and very cool for the interior as the ceramic is a lighter tiint but has just as high heat protection as you would have with the darker standard tints.

I would have gone 30% ceramic tint on the fronts and it would still be clear but here in CA cops love to ding us for any fronts tinted so wanted to play it safe...hope that helps.

For those of us still using suction-mounted GPS and radar detectors, any issues with the suction cups damaging the tint film?

What is DIC? Stuff I was looking at was the 3M ceramic. 70% had a slight tint, 60% is what I think I want to do.

Those in CA, if I were to drive through with AZ plates on and front windshield tint, can I expect trouble? I just see it being hard to recognize.

Some shops use the percentage as visibility or tint percentage. I have 30% visibility in the back and 70% on front windows. Good flow and not very noticeable. I recently got a ticket here...no more "fix it" in Cali, it's a violation with fine. No points but multiple tickets will get expensive. I only got it because CHP wanted to prove a point to me and show he was the man.

Give a cop a reason to pull you over and they will get ya. Most shops will have samples for you look at and see how dark the tints are.

Good luck.

With 70% on front windshield its barely visible. I just cant see a cop even noticing unless you see a bubble or something. Maybe I don't give them enough credit, I don't know.

what you are trying to keep out is the UV rays. Not being too dark to see in. The UV is what makes the heat in the car.
