Battery tender cigarette lighter adapter

Will one of these work with my 08 997? I have several Battery Tenders I use with my M/C's so this would be great for storage. Can I use one of the Acc ports or does it have to go through the lighter. Come to think of it does the Cigarette lighter work with the ignition off? Would be a lot easier than connecting to the battery and disconnecting the trunk light.

No reason to disconnect the trunk light - it goes off after 2 hours...and after 20 minutes if you lock the car with the remote.

I use a run-of-the-mill Stanley battery charger that plugs in to the cigarette lighter. Works great, $40. Name: A0AT_1_20120423_3644095.jpg

And yes the cigarette lighter works with ignition off - it's always hot (live).

The good thing about the Porsche charger is that it's dual mode. Only turns on when the charge gets below optimum the level. I hear its better for your battery.

I bought it at our local Pacific NW equivalent to Target - Fred Meyer. It's on Amazon too - same price free shipping. It is also dual mode - charge when needed, otherwise float charge when battery is at nominal capacity. Actually it's triple mode - there's a boost charge mode if you find that your battery is dead - it will get (supposedly) enough amps in so you can start your car in 10 mins or so.

I use this charger for my 997, I've got one for the starter battery in our backup generator, and one for the BMW also. No problems at all, works as advertised.

I bought a CTEK charger. It is the exact same charger as the Porsche branded charger, but without the Porsche name and price tag.

A little late to the party but it's $29.97 at lowes. Just brought one, not going to drive my 997 anytime soon. We are expecting more snow.

I used this I bought in summer time and it worked just great when I was away for 3.5 months. I bought the cigarette lighter adapter on Ebay for $12 shipped though.

If you already have the battery tender by deltran all you need is to purchase the cigarette lighter adapter http://batterytender.com/products/ac...r-adaptor.html

Then plug it into the center console socket or the socket in the passenger side footwell. Run the wire out the door. There will be a cutout in the weather stripping on the bottom of the door.
