a "thunk" when letting out the clutch

anyone else? and can anyone tell me what's up with this? sometimes when i let out the clutch when it is in neutral i get this sound/feeling... it is mostly when cold but is there once in a while when warm too, and sometimes when in first, sometimes second, don't notice it on other gears and it isn't dramatic , kinda subtle, don't know how to describe it other than that, seems to be a few weeks now, i will be at my indy this week, car runs and drives perfect, don't know, but i have always been a bit paranoid, could just be another case of paranoia, hope so, thoughts on what?

I'll have to pay attention to my own now when I start it up.

Based on personal experience with other strange sounds, I can almost guarantee one thing, though. It probably won't happen at all when you're trying to demonstrate it to your technician...

Could be the throwout bearing or the clutch itself. How many miles on the clutch ?

Yes mine does that occasionally as well. It's an 05 C2 with 13,000 miles. It's a very subtle noise but hasn't affected anything with the car. No slipping of the clutch.
But I also feel <slightly> the thunk as well, which would have to be the pressure plate assembly dropping onto the clutch disc/flywheel.
I wondered if anyone else experienced this, I guess it's another normal quirk.

I checked and mine neither feels strange nor has any strange sounds coming from it when depressed or released. Hope it stays that way and also that your own is nothing to be concerned with.

had this on my 09 C2. I ignored the thunk, but eventually i had to have clutch (either slave or master) cylinder replaced as it started to fail on me - basically clutch would end up sticking midway to engaged. i only had 8K miles. and i didn't ride the clutch nor abuse it... warranty took care of it. good luck!

mine's done it occasionally for years, on and off the track. not sure what it is, but it's "normal".

Do you mean the pedal would stick midway?

Yes - it would stick halfway when coming back up, i.e. hitting friction point and getting clutch to 'engage' - and I usually keep the RPMs between 900-1300 RPMs when coming out of 1st gear, so that's not abuse at all . But I definitely recall hearing the thump more often leading up to that point...
