Does anyone have a recommended wheel powder coater in Orange County that they have used and is reputable? Also has anyone powder coated OEM turbo I rims to a gunmetal finish?
It's cheaper to buy a used set at eBay or Craig list.
You will pay aprox/ 200 each wheel for a good powder coating.
If you buy even a new set of Avand Garde wheels you will pay 1.250
AND you will keep your wheels.
Just a though. !!

I want to know if it's possible if I buy a used set and if anyone has done it on these particular OEM wheels since they are forged not cast. I'm not sure if powder coating is only possible on cast wheels. Also if anyone has done them in gunmetal, how they turned out.
You can powder coating almost any type of metal available.
You just need to find a high quality.
If you are not racing your car, you don't need forged !!
Powder coating is cheap, about 75$ a wheel for very quality. If you drive it in winter where there is snow, then it needs a good prep(sandblasting/primer..) which is about 25$ extra. Ive done it on 3 different sets of mags with no problem. Ive seen gunmetal in person, Its nice. hope that helps.

Pm sterling1975 on this forum. His name is Chris and did all my mods and paint jobs on my Porsche.
Yes, you can powdercoat forged wheels. These Champion RS171s for NB I had fully polished, then clear powdercoated so I wouldn't have to continue polishing them and they'd maintain their luster. They're actually for sale in the Marketplace if anyone is looking for a super light and strong fully forged wheel. What you have to be careful of when powdercoating wheels is the curing temperature used by the powdercoater. Forged Aluminum can be structurally damaged at the temperature powdercoat is normally cured at, so the coater needs to use a low-temperature powder and cure it at about 300 degrees I believe.
