Well it finally happened.

My first failure. No not IMS, no not RMS . . . but one or maybe both of the 'frunk' gas struts. I find it hard to believe that after just 8 years they've failed.

Should I write to PCNA and complain or just install the pair I ordered from Pelican Parts?

What do you guys think?

 

I would definitely write to PCNA and complain! I might have to complain as well because the 12 year old struts on my wife's 986 are starting to fail as well!

How much were those at Pelican parts???

 

A pair ran about 60 bucks including shipping and the frigging California Sales Tax.

When I complain to PCNA they'll probably blame my Das Schild liner and the extra load it puts on the struts.

 

Really easy to replace. on my 996, they failed after 7 years but the frunk on the 996 is steel instead of aluminum on the 997...

 

Must be my Das Schild liner.

 

Minor issue! This is also very conning on the BMW 7- series 2002-2010. Costs you $100 max

 

You guys are far too serious. Do you think I was really upset about having to replace these insignificant struts after 8 years?
