New to 911's need lw down on lowering options

I have lowered my last few cars mostly due to looks. A couple of them had serious handling benefits. I don't go to the track so in this case my goal is purely for the look.

I know the options probably boil down to springs or coil overs. Considering this is for looks lowest cost seems to make the most sense but some opinions would sure be appreciated. All the mods so far have happened with the help of you members and so far all have worked out well.

From personal experience I am done with lowering springs, when my turn to lower or slam my car comes around I will be doing coilovers.. The problem with lowering springs on used shocks is that the shocks have a tendency to go.. so you just paid ~300 for lowering springs, now (IF) the shocks blow thats another 600-800 on new struts.. seems to me likes the better option is to do it right and spend a little more on full coilovers.

There are many different lowering springs you can use, and many many people use them with great success.. dont let my past experience ruin it for you. do a quick search for 997 lowering springs and you will see the options come up.

it would be a better question to ask here "which springs do you guys most recommend".. each having a different drop so you also have to figure out how low do you want to go, and how low can you go.. meaning are the streets where you drive good enough for you to drop the car another ~1.5"-1.75"

Just go for coil overs, do it right, its gonna be expensive but oh well, we drive expensive cars! i bought a used set of bilsteins damptronics for $1800 and paid around $800 for install...to get the perfect LOW look, you need coil overs

Coil overs are the correct way to do this. Unless you want your car to be bouncing down the road like a 64 Chevy lowrider in 5K miles when the stock struts wear prematurely due to the shorter springs. Do it right or don't do it.

I agree with coil overs

Go coil overs. It makes NO sense to buy one of the best handling cars in the world and then compromise the handling because of looks.

It's a Porsche. They are for driving not posing

KW's have an excellent reputation but I'm guessing are more track then street oriented. I would look at Bilsteins as they integrate the stock dynamic shock control.

KWv3 are excellent, but they're costly, as are the KWv2. I ran them on my E46 M3 and loved it - I just can't understand why they jack the pricing up to over $1K over the cost for the ///M.

I started out buying a new set of H&R springs but opted to not install them thinking the springs won't match the dampers, or that they would comprised (wear) them even faster. I ended up buying a set of H&R coil overs and I've been happy with them. The only down side is you can't adjust the dampers (rebound, etc.), but height adjustment and general performance for street is what I was after.

Coilovers are the way to go. I went with Bilsteins and never looked back.
