Dension 500S T with PCM 2.1 , CDC and NAV
Does the Gateway bypass switch interfer with the BT phone capabilities IE.. Can I make/recieve phone calls while the CDC is operatiional ? ( I will assume the unit mutes the CD when a call is being . )
Yes,when you are receiving a call it will automatically mute the radio,cd,Ipod,or what ever device is running. You will just hear the incoming call ring and you just answer. You will only hear out of the passenger side speakers.
So the bypass switch essentially just turns disconnects the Gateway from the MOST bus ? I am really just looking to add BT capabilty to the OEM PCM and it's components while retaining all it's current functions. I won't use any of the other capabilities the Dension has for Apple based products and thought the original Dension units replaced the CDC in order to get al the Apple stuff to work.
Do you have the install manual?
On the connector port there is a mode selector switch to toggle
between Active / Bypass mode. In Bypass mode (LED fl ashes), the
Gateway 500s will be fully ‘invisible’, so no functions - as media
playback from iPod or the phone - will be accessible.
Use this mode if:
1, You want to use the original CD Changer (if available)
2, If the car is taken to service

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I had read the manual online but it isn't as robust in it's explaination of the BT phone capabilities and operation as it is on how an Ipod works. Given the fact that the Gateway must be disabled to get BT and retain the use of my CDC I don't suppose there are any more cost effective ways to just add BT to a PCM without the Gateway Apple part ???? Am getting ready to purchase the 500S BT MO2 and just want to be sure it won't interfer with the CDC capability.
All I can say is I love the Gateway, nav, radio, cdc,Ipod,bt,Pandora streaming from bt...it all works fantastic!Good luck!Eric@BumperPlugs and Dension both have excellent tech advice and will guide you through any problem that might arise!
