Goodbye Carrera S, hello 911

So I got back from overseas two days ago, caught up on my jet lag, and decided that today was the day that the "Carrera S" would be replaced with the matte black "911". I'm amazed at how such a simple and cheap adjustment can make such a big difference in looks. I debated on leaving the "S" on there, but it just looked too out of place, so I removed that too.

I think the Carrera S looks better personally.
Not only does the 911 look out of place on the truck, everyone in the entire world already knows it's a 911. I personally don't get this mod.

I'm with Tarek here. Carrera is such a cool and historic word so why erase it? I'm guessing the OP had silver lettering and I can understand changing that out if the case. My white Carrera S has black lettering and I love the contrast. I've seen white Carreras with silver lettering and it doesn't "pop" the way it should. It almost disappears.

Personally I'm not a fan of just 911 on the deck, nor do I like the 991's "911 Carrera S." Too busy. So in short, I prefer black lettering on most colors, and prefer to stay OEM with the marking. Second choice would be to remove the lettering altogether.

The OP did a very good job with placement. I'll give him that. It looks good, just not my preference. Porsche uses a guide they place over the deck. Perfect placement is assured as all they do is slip the letter(s) into the right slot like placing the last piece of a puzzle.

Steve, you hit the nail on the head. My "Carrera S" was silver, and it blended in with the car (I added a picture of it above). I like the black on silver contrast. I'm gonna stick with this for a while, then in the future maybe put back the Carrera S, but in black

Yep, on a black car you need a contrasting color or the badge is lost. Although the badge is semi-gloss so it would stand out more than if the same gloss black as the car. Red "Carrera S" badge would match the brake calipers on a S.

I think the '911' Badge can make a world of difference depending on what the cars color schemes and overall look is. I think it made a change for the better on my silver, the 'carrera' was almost invisible the way it was on there previously...and with the change goes well with black 'accenting' all around (wheels, tips, etc)...

Funny thing is the other day something actually asked me if my 911 was in fact a 'carrera'...lol!

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...llo-911-a.html

I like the simplicity of the "911" as of now.

When i get tired of it, I will go back to silver "Carrera S"
