From what I have been hearing, its about 15000.00 for rebuilt or 20000.00 new.
I hope you will not need it.

Man, get your car checked out first, your already talking about new engine? lol, the 911 is usually a bulletproof car- your issue will end up being a fuel pump or a sensor i bet!

Check with your dealer.

Was that a joke Tarek,lol.
M96/M97 engines have very big failure rate, look it up! Ask me how I know??I had to go thru this on my 996. On 997.2 it might be bulletproof since Porsche decided to go with a different design. Hope its not big issue on your car Vader, keep us posted

Read your initial post - don't worry about it, hell if every problem resulted in a new engine we would all be broke. Keep us posted!

And, this should go without saying but, have the dealer send a flatbed for it.

I see a lot more failure rate with the 996's then the 997's.

The 2006 model years and beyond have great performance. Some of the 2005's had IMS issues from what I can tell. Some 2006's have a battery cable issue that is a PITA to deal with, but beyond that, I think the 997.1 has been a success with these motors.

It goes in on Thursday. In looking at the records it had a full inspection and oil service 3000 miles ago. My wife snuck it out when I was traveling and can't recall what grade gas she put in it. I am thinking the cheap stuff considering the cash came from her wallet. I put real gas in it and did not notice the hesitation on the way home. Anyway won't be driving it until after the doctors appointment.

If you get a chance read this,

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...s-failure.html

Originally i was going to buy a 997 that had the IMS bearing seal replaced. (It got sold on me cause i hesitated)

Anyway people always talk about a vibration or leaks.....
