Fitting a GT3 Front Bumper Vent Kit ???
I know it's a popular mod but whenever I see one behind me on the freeway and let them pass so I can check it out and see that its not a real gt3 I feel letdown. It's your car, but I personally feel that its a poseur mod on non gt3 cars.
But the GT3 bumper is just like the Aero bumper that comes from the factory- only diff is the grill- i dont see it as being "poser" bumper looks great being Aero or GT3- love both
The mustache is poseur to me. Only the 997.1 gt3/rs cars come like that from the factory. Anything that doesn't from the factory or tequipment is just posing to me.
....ps: love your ride man!

Did it to my 997 C4S after installing the 3rd radiator. Used the install kit that Rennline sells. Would rate it a 3 to 5 on a 10 point scale depending on your aptitude for this kind thing. There is a great DYI video on Rennline's site. Took me about 2 hours but already knew how to r/r the front bumper. Link below has pics of the installed vent.

hakaida,
The OP didn't ask for opinions about what people thought about the mod. He simply asked if anyone has done it and if so, how hard of a modification it was. Please keep your judgmental opinions to yourself, unless solicited. Thanks.

I think adding the center vent, on the 997's, where the transition from hood to bumper is so smooth (non-distinct) it is a great option if you have a light paint color and no front plate. That black smile adds a great visual element. Who cares if its only on a GTx factory.
That said, to the OP's request:
The install is relatively simple now that there is a 3rd party company who makes a KIT for this: they include a template, so you can position it well, trace where the cut needs to go and then be assured its properly centered and the right size/shape. They also sell the vent with a clamping solution, since the original bumper cover doesn't have the interior hardware into which the original vent would screw into. So if you go with that solution (kit and template) it should be about as easy as it can get. You do need to take the bumper cover off. If I did it, I'd add in the mesh screen in there to fill in the space and make it not look so odd when looking in from above when there isn't the 3rd radiator in that spot.
