Well, by the lights. When I had my old 65 bug, and ensuing vw vans we all flashed or waved at each other. There is a lot to keeping those things running, and at some point you have to help each other push the cars off the road.

I got the quick flash from the 911 cab, and I promptly waved back, what a great feeling to be back in a unique club again! I have seen some Boxters from out of town and when I waved I got a confused look back, but maybe they just didn't have time to react.

If you get flashed in key west it usually is the other kind of flash, but if I see another Porsche I will be sure to flash my lights and wave!

I'd like the other kind of flash, too. Have you joined PCA, yet?

There are plenty of hot women here who love to flash, trust me! Rainbow folks dont flash in public luckily.

Its not unusual just to check out a nice looking lady just to get a quick flash and smile, even among friends. Here people arent to proud to let loose a little bit. As locals we would laugh about prudishness as you cant show us anything we havent seen but if so we dont want to see it.

In the Miata world, we have something called the "miata wave" - and most owners acknowledge each other and are friendly. Same thing with the Lotus crowd (perhaps it's due to the relatively low volume). I tried doing a "porsche wave" a few times in Orange County (CA), and was ignored every single time.

I don't want to be wave like an idiot anymore and will stop this practice

I like to call it a wink and I hope it comes back. When I was driving my '68 912, all porsche owners winked at each other.

I have always waved/acknowledged other Porsches. But in the last couple of years I have stopped with the Boxsters. The hairdressers in them always seemed confused why I am waving at them. On the other hand, other 911 drivers, new and old have always waved, sometime even before I spotted them.
