IMS? Urgent. Pics inside.
Today after 60 miles of driving I pulled up to my office and turned off my car. Absolutely no rattling noise or any other warning sign.

After a couple of hours I get back to my car and there was a HUGE oil leak. (I'm guessing 5L or more of oil).

I called my mechanic and we put in 5L of oil and started the car. It run perfectly on idle. And when the car was turned on the oil leak stoped. It ran for about a minute before I turned it off.

Below there are 3 pics of car on the elevator. As you can see there are 2 leak spots. Since I can't get to my indy till tomorrow I would apreciate any opinion based on pics and my description.

How ****ed am I?

Looks like it could be your RMS

Oil leak while stationary and none when idling. Isn't that the oposite of what RMS is supposed to look like?

It looks like it is coming from the seal between the engine and transmission

I agree. While it can totally frustrating to have this happen...wait till your Indy looks at it on the lift. Sit back...enjoy the game today and then deal with it tomorrow.

It's a 05 with 45k miles.

And yes I'll be watching the game. Not telling who I'm rooting for tho... I don't want to get on anybodys bad side

Pretty rare to get rms leaking suddenly with so much oil. I think it is ims but you may just be lucky.

I don't think it is RMS or IMS more like oil cooler or some other seal or pipe. I doubt if it is super serious.

I reread your thread: I just realized that you had a sudden leak and lots of it.

Agree! RMS would leak slowly. It happened to mine - same spot as yours but the oil was not as much as yours. I discovered mine 3 weeks ago when installing my Gundo hack. My warranty expires in a few days so I got lucky.

How many miles on your car

About 43k miles. Daily driven. Oil and filter change every 5k miles.

Thanks guys. I'll keep you posted today/tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Still at the indy that works on my other cars before transporting my baby to "porsche indy" (50 miles away).

This is the aftermath. I'm scared to think what I'm getting myself into.

This experience ruing this car for me.
