S exhaust tips on non-S 997
I've got an opportunity to get some S tips for my non-S 997. I'm not sure I prefer them over what I have, but in case I decide I do, how easy is the installation. I know it's not a straight swap, but what exactly is involved?
Alan,
All you need is the FVD adapter. It's a 13MM socket. One bolt per side. I swapped my regular rectangular tips for some fabspeed black chrome duals. Looks infinately better.
How are you liking the fisters now that you have had them a while?

Thanks for the info guys. Doesn't sound like it's hard to do then.
Caesar, the Fisters seem to me to be a bit louder than I remember on yours. That could be because mine is a cabrio. On the open road they sound great and really add a sporty overall feel to the car. However, since I live and mostly drive in town, they might be a bit loud, especially first thing in the morning with the engine cold. I noticed that people look when I drive by, wondering where that sound is coming from. That's not really what I was looking for. The stock PSE would've been perfect, since I would've been able to disengage it in the morning and around town. I guess I'm gonna live with it for a while and see how I feel about it longer term. I could always sell it and go back to stock later on, if I wanted to.

I'm running the S tips on my C2 with the FVD adapters. It's a fiddle to do but the stainless quads look great against my Seal Gray paint.
If you need any advice on installing let me know. Also did the Gundo so the exhaust is perfect IMO.

Does anyone know if there's adapters to make it possible to install PSE exhaust tips on a S car with stock Gundo'd mufflers? I figure if my car sounds like PSE, maybe it should look PSE as well if that's possible.

I feel the same way. Although I am not completely dissatisfied with Gundo hack, it is a bit loud driving in town. I think it sounds better on the highway. I guess time will tell if I will get used to the sound and get to love it.

I'm not aware of any adapter. The clamp on the PSE tips is not centered on the 2 openings, so it would have to be physically modified otherwise the tips would not be centered in the bumper opening.
OK guys, my S exhaust tips are finally on their way. Are these the FVD adapters that I need?

Same route I went with the FVD adapter. I had a shop throw on the tips as the adapter was a bit too tight to go over my stock exhaust and I tried to avoid doing any injuries to the car (and myself!).
I also painted the S tips flat black, and it turned out awesome, especially against silver. My very similar thread can be found here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...7-1-non-s.html
Good luck.

Just swapped mine out this morning: thanks to Keninirvine for the tips and Joel Pirela for the adapter.
Very easy swap:
1. Loosen bolts on old tips and pull old tips out.

2. Slide FVD adapter over exhaust pipes (very tight fit. I used a screwdriver to open up the adapters to slide them over).

3. Slide new tips over adapters. (short side goes towards center of car).

4. Tighten bolts.

When I did mine, I liked the fact that they were very tight fit. I put them into the oven for about an hour at 400 degrees and then slipped them on the car. I don't remember how hard I had to persuade them. But they're on there!
I didn't have any oven mitts handy. Just a little pressure from the screwdriver opened them up enough to slide over and once released they felt pretty tight.
