Sports Mode without the Chrono Clock

Comparing options with a friend. He has a 997.1 S with PASM and PSE, no Chrono clock and I have a 997.1 S with the PASM + Sports Mode with the Chrono Clock on the dash without the PSE. How can I tell if he has Sports mode or not? In other words, can you get Sports mode without the Chrono clock on the dash?

I believe you can get your porsche dealer to enable the sport chrono features for you. but it will be a always on.

with the sport chrono, you can turn it on and off.

The dealer can add sports mode without the clock after delivery, but it comes with a sport button.

So if doesn't have the sport button or the clock then I'd say no.

Never heard of them activating sport mode permanently thru software, except through an after market flash.

He doesn't have the clock nor the button. So he doesn't have Sports mode. Thanks for the clarification.

It's also pretty easy to tell if you drive it. Push Sport in yours, and while you're in the middle of driving on some curvy roads, push it again and notice the huge difference it makes. Your car without Sport engaged is how his feels all the time.

Personally, I always have Sport on with PASM in normal. I love that the traction control doesn't hold me back 100%.

Revs higher before shifting.
Quicker downshifts,...the mapping is adjusted for sportier driving.
It still Learns your driving style.
I almost always hit Sport then deselect the shocks for regular driving, shocks too firm for regular driving.
Nothing selected is the Grandpa driving.
I am surprised you didn't notice anything.
It does not give the engine more power, if that is what you were looking for.

I too don't understand why you don't feel the difference. I'm not a power driver myself but there's a noticeable difference in throttle response and acceleration in SM. Try punching it while coming out of a turn with SM on and off and PASM off. You'll feel the rear end kick out a little in SM. No difference in peak HP though as mentioned above.
