#17
I've had a couple of very bad experiences with TR and have now found a local tire store that does professional work.

Needing new tires
I'm now back into another Porsche(2006 C4S) after coming out of a divorce a few years ago...I will need to buy tires soon....whats the recommended N rated tires everyones using?

Actually, we tested them with our cayenne wheels and they were excellent. Now they have done a few of our cars and have always been as good as anyone. Always careful and top notch. Having them mount my cayman wheels next week.

If you really want N-rated, then PS2 is still the best bet. Otherwise, most people here are going for the Michelin PSS instead.

I agree with the above. If you want to go with N tires, the PS2 is excellent but pricey. But there really is no need for N rated tires when you have excellent Michelin Super Sports available for significantly less.
I would also check prices at your local Porsche dealer. When I replaced my PS2s, their prices were lower than Tirerack. Their installation is usually higher but I am comfortable with their handling of the tires.

I just put two N Pirelli s on my car. Dealer had a pretty big markup and I didn t want to drop ship from tire rack because of the dealers $90 mount and balance fee and I felt a little funny about doing that when they do sell the tires. I found a local shop I used on other cars and questioned him on the quality of machines and techs he uses. Saved about two hundred dollars and no issues. My thought process is; why wouldn t a good tire shop handle this with no problems. They do more tires than a Porsche dealer.

I've had good experiences with America's Tire with both my old M3s and my 997.2 S. Their machine uses a teflon lipped fork versus a metal one and does not scratch the wheels. I alos tip the installer $20 bucks before he does the job to be extra careful. I've never had a problem with them, knock on wood. Plus their tire warranties work great.
