every time i lock 'er up and take one more look at my macadamia dreamboat, sheesh, get a life... anyway, i always wonder if it will be there next time i go to get in...i have a semi-secure underground parking garage space, since i have no garage at my house, being right in the middle of our 'village'...what kind of hidden locks or cutoff switches are there out there...i was just thinking of covering the air intakes totally, would it still start? i'm sure it wouldn't run very well, and if someone really wants it, like pro's, i guess they could get it out to a flatbed or some such, that would be harder...or am i just thinking this to death...? what do others have for security...wish i had a garage at the house, and then a lift and...

You could always add a simple toggle switch to the ignition hidden somewhere in the interior of the car. Battery still needs to function for door locks and alarm but you can flick it off when you leave the car and without turning it on the car will not start. I would personally not worry a ton.

 

I heard about this thing you can get called auto insurance. I think you can even get it to cover theft

Many moons ago, our neighborhood woke up and many high end 4wd SUV parked on the street were all missing. The police just said, "....must have used trailers and a special order shopping list for someone ....."

Bottom line is if they want it, they'll get it.

Toggle switch is always good mainly for peace of mine of the owner --- obviously, that's the 1st or 2nd thing thieves look for. Used to do it but not on the 997 yet.

 

A dead switch kills all the power to the car. Useful for the track, not so much for car security as your alarm will shut off.

You can consider a ECU dead switch - several tuners offer a ECU kill or valet mode - but reprograming your ECU may "potentially" void your warranty in the eyes of your dealership.

 

i know i know, got all that...like i said, i am just a paraniodlich ****, just would HATE going to get in and its not there? whoa nellie, like the time in koln at the hospital for a check up and didn't see the fire lane signs, where, by the way, a number of others were parked as well and came out later to an empty space, no, in fact there were other cars parked there by then,,, but not mine! figured it out within minutes, but a frantic few minutes...bad feeling
