plasma cutter for gundo hack?

So I'm trying to decide where to take my exhaust for a gundo hack. There's a welding shop in Moose Jaw that has a plasma cutter and can do it for around $300. The other option is a muffler shop that doesn't have a plasma cutter but said it can still do it just fine with the torche for $200. I'm worried about the extra heat warping the pipes. What do you guys think? Also 2" stainless recomended?

I did 2 inch and sounds good... I think either method will work fine provided you have a skilled operator.

A plasma cutter is the best choice for cutting an austenitic stainless. Cutting an austenitic with a torch is more like melting a moving hole.

The welder who did my gundo used a plasma cutter and did a great job. I think it permitted him to make very precise cuts, and it turn it resulted in cleaner welds. I also went with 2" 301L stainless and it sounds great.

Good to use an 'L' designated grade. A 308L weld wire would be a good choice as well.

Actually, I think this got answered in another thread - but since your new GTS has PSE, there is no need to do the Gundo hack - it's pretty much PSE without the on/off capability.
