Front plate mounting kit for 997?
Front plate mounting kit for 997?
The other evening, as I was merging onto a crowded freeway 101 on my way home, a LEO (CHP) decided to pull me over and started reading me the riot act about unsafe lane changes. It would have ended up as a case of his word against mine. I moved fairly quickly across two lanes (one at a time), into large gaps (big enough for a bus) and nobody needed to make any evasive maneuvers to accommodate my lane change. At no time did my speed exceed 50 Mph and even that was only in short bursts during the actual lane change.
So, after threatening to 'arrest me next time, take me to jail and take my car away' (which felt like it was designed to bait me into an argument which would have led to that exact scenario), he decided to let me off with a warning BUT with a ticket for not having a front license plate.
So while I wait for that letter to show up in my mail, can anyone recommend a place where I can order the front license plate mounting kit for my 997.1?
Thanks.

Plate bracket you can get at the dealer, and it only goes on one way. ( there is a little notch under the bumper above the "hole" for the third radiator opening that the plate frame lines up with)

The best one I've seen so far is from Rennline. It screws into the tow hook receiver eliminating the need to drill holes on the bumper and allows you to easily remove your plate for shows, track events or anytime it is not needed.

Sorry but those look very tacky on the side like that. I would rather have one drilled in center.
Maybe buy the one that goes to the side and keep it in trunk? Tell officer you just got it washed or something and forgot to put it on?

Don't like the front plate law, MD.
After a warning from a State Trooper I ordered the Tow Hook mount from US Mill Works.
I put it to the side as Far as possible without covering the DRL's.
I am pleasantly surprised,...I Like it!
I also put a Black Plate surround to match the rear.

Did you signal your lane changes and give motorists enough time to see your signal and react to it?
