GSP Roll Bar information Thread

Im in the market to buy and install a roll bar in my 997 911. I have received some info from some forum members and have been reading a lot of old threads but one bar i wanted to get some opinions on is the GSP roll bar. Please if you know about this bar or have any information on it let me know. Comparing it to some other popular brands it seems as if your getting a quality bar for your money.

Check it out and feedback please guys.

Thanks

maybe i'm search-illiterate this morning or maybe i'm confused but besides your link and some hits for ebay (and 6speed) i cant find anything on this brand. what company makes it - is the bar made by "GSP" or is it made by "ilovebodykits"? always a red flag to me when something that is touted as great, proves to be somewhat obscure on the interwebs.

anyway it just seems to me that where extreme safety is concerned you'd want to stick with one of the benchmarks - GMG, RSS, DAS. i have a DAS and havent looked back.

just my .02

Get a techequipment bar and be done with it. Perfect fit and OEM quality.

The Techquipment bar is not a match for the GMG bar. The GMG bar is made from 4130 seamless DOM and TIG welded tube. Pick up the two bars and you'll notice how light the tech bars feels in comparison. However, the tech bar does look pretty if that is a factor.

Thanks for all your feedback.

From my research the the GSP Roll bar looks like it borrowed most of its design from the GMG bar which was very attractive in terms of build, design and quality. The price of the GMG was the only turn off. As for the techequipment bar i really don't see how its that great structurally (looks like a simply "U" with a "X" and four little feet) although i don't have one, so i'm not saying its not great but looks more like eye candy ( OMG thats cool he got a roll bar in his car, LOL). The built and price of this GSP bar is very catchy. What i like most is that it bolts right above the rear suspension points which is always a great idea (same design as the GMG).

Do i plan to roll over my car? NO but anything is possible. Giving the fact that i have had roll bars in both my M3's in the past and now a full 6pt professional cage in the M3 i current own, i have some knowledge of cages (but i'm no pro). I'm going to hold off on the roll bar installation for now and do some more homework.

I might end up purchasing this GSP roll bar in the future. I'll bring it to my good friends shop that builds professional cages, have him go over the entire Roll bar and then perfecting it in anyway possible to ensure 100% safety. First thing will be adding a cross brace for seat belt harness. When i'm done i'll have a 1 off quality design. Some may say this will cost me more, so why not just buy one of the already mentioned Roll bars? The answer to this is it will not cost anything except the price of the GSP roll bar.

Thanks again 6speed.

FYI, these so called roll bars you are looking at are not exactly race car worthy roll bars. They are nothing more than glorified harness bars. On real roll bar protection is a full welded in roll cage. These bolt in bars are NOT roll bars even thought that is what they are called.
Best build and best for money is the offerings from RSS for a bolt in bar.

Honestly I agree with you and that's why my real race car (E46 M3) has a complete professional welded in 6pt roll cage. What I'm looking for the Porsche is more for aesthetics. Please post a link to the roll bar your talking about from RSS and ill check it out.
