Jet-A is very similar to diesel fuel, while regular gas is a whole different animal. Maybe you thought of 100LL aviation fuel for piston engines? They are color coded to make sure you get the right one at the pump or from the fuel truck ...
Cheers,
Oliver
Yeah...mixing gas ((even 100ll) with jet fuel is a recipe for a disaster especially if airborne.

Sorry, I wasn't clear ... I meant, he though maybe of replenishing 100LL with regular auto gas, which is possible, but still a very bad idea. Running an engine in thin air and very cold temperatures at rated power setting for long periods of time on even 93 octane fuel is going to get very expensive very quickly. Not even mentioning the book-full of regulations you would be breaking ...

I think based on what you did they should void your warranty for lack of common sense

First thing you do if the "bar" is low, is add 1/2 a quart at most to see if the bar moves and how much. Especially if you never added oil to the car.
Adding 3 quarts to an engine that has oil (short of a caterpillar coal mover) at any point is too much.
You will be fine. You learned your lesson, I am sure most of us have done something silly like this at one point or another!

Correct, 100LL can be used to supplement Jet A in a pinch for turbine engines. Athough you really dont want to do this, its acceptable and can be used without a problem for 10 hrs before parts need to be replaced. Not every airport has Jet A, and if you need it, you need it...dont ask how I know poor fuel planning, crap wx, high winds...oh well!

My first car. A ford festiva. I think I was 18. 1st oil change ever, no one to teach me at the time. I drained the tranny and added 3.5 quarts of oil to the motor. Blew every seal on the engine. Oil everywhere. I drove 30 miles on the highway before I figured out that I could barely shift. Took it to jiffy lube and they set both the fluids at the proper level and charged me $15. Aside from having to steam clean the engine and 4th gear sounding like reverse for the rest of its life I never had another problem and it never leaked oil!

Lesson learned the hard way.

That was also the car I learned standard on.
