Adding engine oil void engine warranty?
Okay, this might sounded dumb,
I just found out that my engine oil is about one bar to empty after a long day of driving. I'm thinking of adding recommended Mobil 0W/40 for it. However, I got C2s was CPO'ed and I'm not sure what was the oil was added by the previous dealer, I mean it could be castro or different brands that might cause problem when mixed up with Mobil. Should I contact dealership to have the oil changed and that way I'd know what's the newest oil in my car so I can get the right engine oil fill up in future? Or I was thinking too much after knowing low engine oil tank would cause all that pain in the engine. BTW I did about 6k miles on it, so should I do an oil change anyways? Thanks all!

Well, for future preference, can I add more oil later on if i know what kind of oil it is? I'm just wanted to make sure it doesn't void the warranties. Oh and my friends said Royal purple is a good brand oil to put in but I don't think it's Porsche approved right?
You are over thinking your question. Warranty would come into play if there were engine problems and I doubt seriously mixing Mobil 1 with Castrol (or others) is going to cause a problem. As others suggested, if you're worried just change the oil and get a few quarts of the new oil to carry for topping off.
Agreed with what jhbrennan said. Just change it for your peace of mind.

Okay I called the dealer and they said they won't have time until next week.....they told me it's not at the service mark yet and told me to add oil to it and since it was cpo'ed it has Mobil 1 in it. I'm going to add a little oil to it I guess before i get it to the dealer next time. But what if I overfill the engine without knowing it would that void the warranty if the dealer found out about it?

Okay, this is bad, I did overfill the engine, I think by 2.2 quarts since i poured 3 quarts in it and drove it for 15 miles for groceries before I found out about it. Dealer told me to drained it at a indi shop, or tow it over there to drain or drain it my self. I drained all and re put about 7.4 liter in it. There was no warning light from beginning to end. However the engine was running hot before the draining. Is it the end of the world?

I read it but I miss interpreted it.... I thought every segement represents a portion of the total volume of the engine, that was very stupid. And I did drained all the oil and added the right amount of oil according to the manual, the car was fine after engine fans ran off couple of times, so far, no engine light come on. Is that gona void the warranty?
Maybe you shouldn't be doing any maintenance on your car. It is an awfully expensive toy to be "practicing" as a mechanic. Don't try to save money when you own one of these cars if you are a novice. Unless the pursuit of these types of problems is your passion, I'd just let the dealer or a good Indy shop take over from now on.
P-cars may use a little bit of oil, so we should all know how to do a little top-up. You cannot go to the dealer every time a little bit of oil is needed.
For peace of mind, I suggest that you do it at .250 of liter increments (i.e. one fourth of a one liter bottle) and avoid to put more than .5 of liter in total. Try to shoot for the middle notch, not the lowest, not the highest. (Each notch should be .5 of a quart). When in doubt ask the forum, people would be glad to chip in and help.
For what I understand the overfill may or may not create serious issues. Common sense-wise, I think that you may be fine, assuming that you only drove for 15 minutes and the temperature of the engine did not go into serious overheat (after which all sort of bad damages could result, including cracking the block etc.).
Importantly, avoid Mr. Bean type of panic where you create an avalanche of issues from nothing. Gradual knowledge is the key. If you do not know how to do a top-up, please please do not attempt to do your own oil change.
Good luck!!
