A better way to know when you locked your car or not

I used to always wait for the 2 flashes or one flash to know when i have locked my car or not. Now i have a better way. Pretty sure others have noted this but i will share. Wen you press the key fob and the signal lights immediately flash its open. If you press no immediate light, its locked. Thats it. Still i wish we could hve sound so all one has gotto do is listen even if a bit away from your car.

Please explain again? If you press once it will lock or unlock. If you press again it will do the reverse. I don't get your explaination but am very interested in how you confirm the lock or unlock without having to cycle through the process.

My M3 is so much more simple. Lock is 1 button unlock is another. If the door is locked and you push the lock button, the interior light will come on to let you know. This is without cycling the door lock actuators. Very smart of these Germans. Don't know if I can say the same about the Porsche Germans

Two blinks from the front and rear turn signals means locked.

Two blinks = 2 words = Good Bye

1 blink = 1 word = Hello

I think what Rick is saying is if you can't remember how many flashes = lock then notice if the flash happens iright away or is delayed. If delayed, the delay = lock. Flash happening right away = unlock.

I misunderstood the op statement. It seemed as though though he had discovered another feature

Jh is right. Not reallyna new feature just a faster way to know status. Whereas before i had to wait for either one or two flashes, and sometimes i even forget which is which, immediate flash upon presing is open. Delayed flash is locked

Since the car will automatically re-lock if no doors are opened, all you need to do if you're not sure is hit the button an extra time. If it was already locked, you will have just unlocked it, but it will re-lock itself in 30 seconds since you didn't open a door.

This is one of reasons I put SMARTTOP on my CAB, in addition to controlling the the top with the key, it also CHIRPS when locking (twice), unlocking (once). They also make device for coupes.

Smart Top not only makes it so that the horn sounds when entering and exiting, but also makes it so that the trunk doesn't open unless the button is held to prevent opening on accident. It also raises and lowers my windows with the key!

Go for it!

This is good advice. Don't worry about which lights you see. As long as the door remains shut....it re-locks if you went one push too far.....

Mine is 06 and re-locks itself if a door isn't opened within about 30 seconds. I believe all 997 vehicles do this.
