Floating...

Hello again all,

Need your help again please. I recently purchased an 09 C2S and am very happy with it with one exception... When I am driving at highway speeds, at times, the car seems to "float". It was especially noticeable this weekend when I was on the highway and it was raining fairly heavily. It was actually quite scary as it almost seemed to be hydroplaning... Any information you can provide would be very helpful.

Thanks!

911's have always been a bit floaty but not until you are close to triple digit territory which I assume you were not going in the rain. I put a front lip spoiler on mine when I added the rear wing. Seems to help a bit.

I was going about 75 and then had to drop to about 50 due to the "floating"... Cars were passing me at 75. Pretty scary.

Since switching to Michelin PSS from PS2's I get an internitten front end vibration when driving at highway speeds (65 mph - 85 mph) in moderate to heavy rain. Never had that before. I have checked the wheels and tires.

Tire condition? Alignment?

If this is your first rear engine car, the sensation if the weight pushing you out if a bump can feel strange.

The sensation of floating is typical to rear engined cars. Try the same thing next time with 50 lbs of weights in front it will go away, also on an empty tank it feels worse than full tank.

perhaps Hankook tires ?

if so, they prob need some break-in period..

The tires have about 3K on them and are Michelin Sports... Hope that was teh answer... Could it have soemthing to do with the suspension?

As others already mentioned, check your alignment. But I noticed that feeling too in my 991 coming from the front engine M3.

That will explain when I was going 1xx on the Hwy the car seemed to float. (i did have less than 1/4 tank) I will try again with the tank full and maybe some weight in the front. I thought I was going crazy at first..but it makes sense now

I had a little of that feeling too when I put on new rear tires.... as they are breaking in 800 miles so far, it is getting much better....
