i thought perhaps i had one too many drinks last night..

BUT did anyone else notice the two side mirrors are angled differently ?

i took pics last night then verified again this morning just to make sure i was not imagining it.

has this been discussed previously ?

 

is it just my mirrors ?

or is no one else bothered by the difference in angle, thus making the driver side stick out more ?

 

Been like that for years on many cars .
You view both sides from different angles , and they are reversed on rhd cars .
Have a look at a late 964 with cup mirrors or a 993 and its even more dramatic ...

 

Great observation, I never noticed until you pointed this out. My mirrors are the same as in your pictures ( angled differently on both sides ). Those were great drinks you had, to be able to pick this up

still.. with the electronic mirror adjustment possible, is it really necessary to make mirror housing angled so differently ?

Well, apparently it isn't THAT non-symmetrical, since most of us didn't notice until now. LOL
Look at it this way, the angle of the mirrors within each housing is more symmetrical this way, maybe.

 

Even 964 owners don't notice .
The amount of people back in England that thought they where buying bargain mirror sets from Germany and usa eBay for their early 964s was pretty remarkable ...

 

I noticed a similar thing on the boxster last week .
Even after 3 weeks of cleaning and polishing the damn thing !!!
The side grills are different , and once I noticed , its not even subtly different .
They are like 2 totally different designs

 

On a different note, when you have the opportunity to see a 911SC, you'll notice that the side mirrors are bolted on different locations.

I had to just walk out and look at mine sober and your right!I will check them again tonite after ****tail hour to see if anything has changed!

 

Now I have to get out of my chair, go out to the garage and check this out. I'll be right back.

Holy crap!!! You're right. I would have gone to my grave not knowing that if you hadn't brought it up. Now I have to go back out to the garage and check the mirrors on other cars. Maybe tomorrow.
