Help with a PCM 3.0 Problem on my 2010 997.2 4S Cab
#16
I had exactly the same problem with my 2009 911 C2 Cab, also a CPO car. The dealer went through all the same attempts to fix it, and finally decided to replace the entire PCM. That cured the problem. Note- I have just over 4,000 contacts on my iPhone 7. This leads me to believe that you still don't have a true solution until the PCM is replaced.

I know that I’m a little bit late to the party. In my head 997.2 I had the same problem and it went away when I stop synchronizing my 2000+ phone contacts. Good to hear that this also did the trick for some of you. I can live with that.

just as expected the PCM issues couldn’t be replicated by the dealer so they asked me to video tape when the rebooting mishaps occur again, until then they can’t do anything

I have a 2012 911 with the 3rd world PCM 3.0. I don't have problems with the phone but have few contacts in it. My problem is with playing an IPod. I don't even know what the connection for the IPod is and the adapter cable has the old 30 pin connecter. I was able to play the IPod for a while using the USB connection, but it has now quit. I was able to use an old IPad with the 30 pin connector but it would not advance the tracks. I'm not going to fool with it and just replace the head unit and the Bose amp with some aftermarket setup. Porsche should have had service bulletins that replaced the PCM 3.0. It is junk.

"Note- I have just over 4,000 contacts on my iPhone 7. "
No one can possibly know this many people well enough to need to have all of them on a contact list.
Clean up your phone first before pairing it.
FYI, Porsche is in the business of making great sports cars that are unequaled. They are lousy at comfort items,
social media bs and the like. They are always catching up to the state of the art in communications and social media crap.
