Btw, I don't think the factory spacers are thicker in a sense. When I measured, the 200 height was lower. However, I think the factory resonator "tapers" inward so it would fit into the panel's opening. Dang, we are just talking about a few mm here!!!

No matter. It should be ez-pz. .... I hope!

Off to the hardware store.

. I haven't measured yet. Measurements are so hard given that parts do vary. A few mm's and you're screwed. One thing is almost certain: cutting up the door panel (black inside plastic speaker liner would be ez and will give outward room.

I'll get some fiberboards and we'll see!

I am listening to rock and Andrea Bocelli and I am smiling!!!!

Can't wait for these puppies to be fully broken in!!

Ah, you've had a taste of the improvement! You ain't heard nothing yet! Really need a 3/4" spacer, I think. Also check evhudsons' install. The 6.5" have pretty big magnets and there was no contact. No idea about the 8's though - although they certainly seem to fit - even different kinds (Dynaudio, etc.) in the door.
Certainly no real taste of the bass until the enclosure is sealed, i.e. the door panel is fully mated!

Focals has the newer 8's with stronger magnets (super magnets) but aren't available yet at discount.

I almost bit the bullet on those!

Don't make me want to upgrade already! I'm still looking at the subwoofer!

Which Focals? I can't find *any* 8s on their website.. Even the IS200 is listed as 7".

I was wondering if these beasts would fit: http://cdtstore.com/hd_series/hd_842.htm

the DYN Audio are 3 1/8 deep/ they fit with a 1/2 inch mdf mount ring

From my experience 2 and 15/16 is the deepes you can go with out interfeating with the power window movement

But you are also running them through a an amp that is about $700. I think your system looks like it was about $5k plus install. I'll bet it is awesome!

Reminder that I'll be in New Canaan this weekend if anyone wants to hear my system.
