Wheels: Avant Garde VS Wheel Dynamic

I am looking at both Avant Garde Ruger and Wheel Dynamis 808 series 19"wheels for a 2008 Carrera narrow body and was hoping someone could advise on the quality and differences of both. They both seem to be a nice wheel in this price range, just not sure about the strength and overall quality?? I have also looked at the Forgestar F14. Any comments on these wheels would be very helpful... Thanks.

I have the Forgestars and now have one summer season of driving on them. No issues at all. In terms of quality I am very happy with them and they use my stock lug nuts which the Avant Garde do not so that was a plus. I think they are all prbably very similar in pricing quality - I purchased through ModBargains who were excellent on customer service (I had one rim arrive bent and they took care of it no questions asked).

find out what the processes is in making each wheel to determine quality and strength.

#1 forged, 2nd, pressure cast and 3rd (cheapest) gravity cast.
Don t make the mistake of buying a wheel that looks good when you may already have lighter stronger wheels already on your car, IMO.

Wheels: Avant Garde VS Wheel Dynamics

I believe the Forgestar are Rotory Forged Flow Formed but not sure about the Avant Garde and Wheel Dynamics, they may be Low Pressure Cast. I was told that the forgestar was a liter but harder wheel. The A/G and W/D wheels are softer but tend to bend instead of crack, this could be an advantage if you hit a pot hole. Just not sure which option to choose... Thanks for the comments.

Forged are not the be all, end all, solution.

The wheels BBS make for Ferrari Formula 1 are flow formed pressure cast, not forged.

Correct. The Avant Garde/Ruger Mesh and the Wheel Dynamics 808 are the same wheel. Wheel Dynamics buys from Avant Garde, puts it on their own site and just slaps what ever model name on it. Many of the wheels that Wheel Dynamics has on their site are from reputable wheel companies and rebranded on their site.

As for the Ruger Mesh versus Forgestar. They are both good wheels.

The only car I have seen an issue on Forgestar was an Audi A5 with a 255/30ZR20 Hankook V12 Evo tire. I think it was not an issue with the wheel, but more of an issue of the tire due to the soft sidewall and this uneven stretch of the highway that they did not bother fixing for a couple years. Besides for this car, everyone else I know has had nothing but positive feedback on Forgestar wheels.

Ruger Mesh
- Advantage -
Low pressure cast. Better product versus gravity cast. Readily available in 2 different offsets. 1 meant for widebody and 1 meant for narrow
- Disadvantage - Only 2 different offsets. If you are **** about your wheel fitment, or want it to sit really aggressive, you have to make it work. Also will need a spline drive lug bolt which I dislike.

Forgestar
- Advantage -
Its a rotary forged, flow formed wheel. Better weight savings. You can get custom offsets to your preference.
- Disadvantage - These are custom built to order. The weight time is rediculous. This is where I think iForged/Forgestar needs to improve upon.

True. All will eventually get bent or cracked. Its just a matter of time.

+ 1 on the wait times for Forgestar. I love my wheels but they took an entire winter to get to me.

I would not let a long lead time stop me from getting better wheels.

I would shop Used Wheels, I got Kinesis Forged F110 for cheaper than any of those, the best part is when/if I sell the car I could more than likely get 80-90 cents on the dollar back.

I learned my lesson with Mods, I try to buy used now, Porsche owners usually keep there stuff in Mint Condition.

Wheels: Avant Garde VS Wheel Dynamics

Do all of the Avant Garde wheels use the smaller Tuner wheel bolts?? I do like the fact that Wheel Dynamics and Forgestar use the OEM style hardware. More contact surface has to be an advantage. Has anyone had an issue with A/G wheel bolts?? Also are they Hex or Spline?? Thanks.

Some of the other AG wheels accept an aftermarket conical lug bolt, but the Ruger Mesh accepts a spline out bolt. I just don't like the spline because it's almost impossible to use them without scratching the inside of the bolt holes. The spline keys also weaken up over time and will need to be replaced after x uses

Check out the rotary forged wheel by victor equipment. Accepts OE lug bolts, rotary forged, affordable and readily available
