Bridgestone Tires
Bridgestone Tires
I currently have Bridgestone RE50A tires on my 997S and like them. The rear need to be replaced and looking on Tire Rack I saw they also carry Bridgestone S-04s. I can pick up four of the S-04s for the price of two RE50As. Anyone have an opinion on the S-04s? My car is a weekend car with some canyon driving - no track.
Thanks very much.
Thanks very much.
There are people that really like the S-04's (which may be a bit more performance oriented; do a search here or on Rennlist and you'll find plenty of comments). I had the RE50A's on my 997.1 and had no problem with them - okay on the track (for my ability) and okay on the street. As you know, a good tire that is not really spectacular at anything. Anyway, to your question, it's too bad that there is no way to demo tires. But, if you can get 4 S0-4'sfor the price of two RE50A's, and plenty of people have good things to say about them, it seems like they would be worth a try.
I used to have Bridgestone S-03 tires (I believe the predecessor to the S-04) on my Boxster (pre-911) as well as on my Z8. I really liked them; quiet, good grip and very good wet handling. They S-04 is also a great value - I would consider it a good competitor to the Michelin Super Sports. Would love to hear a comparison from an experienced driver.
I have RE-11s, which I put on in July and the fronts already need replacing. Searched a little today bc of your post. I'm going to try the S-04 next since they are much less expensive. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks all for your replies. After some more on-line research and discussion with Tire Rack I ordered the SO-4s. Seem to be a lot of tire for a good price...I'll see.
