looking forward to it, but the process of removing it is giving me apprehension.
i read the DIY thread, and there is a part about removing the airbag, people are saying it takes a ton of pressure to make it happen. i just don't want to dork something up.

i'll post pics when i finally finish. gonna start today on it.

cheers,
NAV

I just did it. Very easy! From start to finish no more than 1 hour. I also followed diy threads here. Without multifunction buttons, it will be even easier and faster. GL!

You can use regular T-55 torx bit. I bought it from local parts store for $5.

Wire removal

Guys.
After getting the steering wheel off, I had to figure out how to remove the wires from the airbag. Last thing I wanted to do was mess up something electrical.
The black ground wire is easy, slides right off.
The other 2 I had to figure out. Hopefully the picture will show it, but the orange piece slides up. I used a small regular screwdriver. Once that is unlocked, the harness easily comes out of the airbag.

Thanks to all that aided me in this endeavor.

Cheers,
NAV

one tip... push the airbag in slightly (like you're pressing the horn) when you are trying to release it. It should help

This should not be too difficult. If you are worried about this DIY because you think the Airbag can pop, don't worry. If the battery is unplugged there is no way the airbag can deploy. It needs electrical current.

That would add an element of excitement to the project though! Like that old game "Operation".
