Tachometer issues
Tachometer issues
I just found out that my tachometer pointer was having minor movement of going up and down (between 0-1)when the I stopped the vehicle during road lights, is this normal or there's some parts of the car needs to be replaced? There's no checking light on.
It could be a dirty mass airflow sensor or throttle body. Both will give a rough idle. Cleaning both is fairly easy.

Everybody that posts to say that their idle speed (it's probably not the tach, op) has minor fluctuations at idle gets told to flush this or wipe that or replace something else. Now I don't know what 0-1 at a traffic light means but I'm going to bet it's not a problem. The motors are in a fairly high state of tune and I would not expect, nor have I ever had, a rock steady idle in either stock or modified condition. No loss of sleep over +/- 50 or so rpm fluctuations here. If the motor takes gas cleanly and pulls smoothly thru the gears I say leave it alone. My advise to OP is: drive faster and don't worry about it. And sorry for the rant. Really need some rain to clean the salt off these NY roads.
It occurs to me in the shower that OP may be describing the tach needle rising and falling from 1k rpm to 0 rpm at idle. If this is the case note that the tach is electronic and is reading crankshaft speed sent from a sender unit in the motor. This is a different issue and suggests that there is a fault in the sending/reading system requiring technical support. Please advise.
Well, the needle did not go far as 0-1 rpm, it was a minor like a distance of millimeters. I called the SA from local dealer, they told me it was normal for the engine speed that I shouldn't worry about it. I will take the car in for service next week and find out if there is any issues I don't know.

Op, if you're ever curious, hook up a durametric - or pay a stealership $150/hr - and watch it live how much the rpm's fluctuate at idle. much like the water temp gauge (and who knows what others??), the tach is prob "dumbed down" a bit so that it looks smooth, when, in fact, rpm's all sort of all over the place.
