PCM 3.0 & iPhone 5 Bluetooth Problems

Anybody else having an issue with a combination of PCM 3.0 version 1.40 and iOS 7.1 on an iPhone 5? I think I just drove my Targa for the first time since upgrading to iOS 7.1 and all hell broke loose with my PCM. It literally would restart every 2 minutes. I let my SA know the problem and then started to trouble shoot and very quickly figured out that the problem is with the bluetooth connection with my iPhone.

And yeah, BTW, I can't believe I'm posting a question about software versions of my phone on an enthusiast car forum. The fact is NOT lost on me and makes me a little worried about my plan to hang on to my 997.2 Targa for a long time. I love the car, but am more than a little worried about how all of these complicated systems are going to age.

In any event, I'd love to see if anybody else is having this specific problem.

Thanks in advance.

No problems here and I'm on the same software as you and a 2009 C2S. My phone paired easily and I've experienced no problems. Maybe try doing a reset on your iPhone to clear anything up???

I had that problem briefly after I updated. Try deleting your phone from the PCM system, and delete the bluetooth connection on your phone. Then just establish a new BT connection. Problem went away and hasn't come back.

Thanks - I was thinking that was the next step. I'd really rather not have to end up at the dealer because of this.

Damn. No joy for me. It was working until the whole phone book transferred and then problem came right back. Wonder if it's a memory thing. Frustrating.

Do you have international numbers in your contact list?

If so, create a hotlist first, then pair only the hotlist for download, no international numbers.

Not sure if this may resolve it but it could prevent issues.

No problems here, PCM 3.0 and iPhone 5S at 7.1, but I've been updated to PCM version V2.24 in case that makes a difference.

There is a post over on Rennlist at http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...e-upgrade.html that may be related and matches the prior comment on this thread about contacts. The OP on that thread had in excess of 2000 contacts and the SA or tech reported that was causing problems. Please read in case that helps you.

I do - plenty actually. Worth a try. Thanks Eric.

Oh, and BTW, I'm continuing to love the red "S" sourced from you.

International numbers causing a problem seems like an odd thing, since international numbers would be very common in Europe (ie +country code + phone number)

I've read that folks with very HUGE contact lists that get downloaded that this is a problem.

It does appear in any case, that the Porsche phone/PCM supplier didn't practice defensive programming and rather than ensuring it handles thing gracefully they made some assumptions that don't always hold true.
