Handbrake handle

My handbrake handle, the leather grip, is quite worn, apparently you cannot just replace this its the whole handbrake assembly, any suggestions?

There is no OEM part for just the leather but it can be replaced alone. Try Classic 9 Leather: http://www.classic9leathershop.com/p...d-porsche-997/

Also check out Exclusive Option, and eBay

Try to find a local leather repair guy. It's pretty amazing how much they can do to existing leather that looks worn and nicked. Probably easier and cheaper than replacing.

I replaced JUST my leather handle with one that has red stitching on it, so it would match the inside of my car...you just have to yank it off hard and then slide the new on on.
I had my local porsche dealer do it for me.

I bought the dye to match, scuffed mine up on top with a rough towel (shop towel), cleaned it with soap and water and then applied several coats of dye letting it dry in between. It looks 99% better and you really cannot tell any more. That would be my suggestion only because you will likely run into this again with seat wear, etc. and having the proper colored dye helps.

When you say "yank it off hard" is it glued on... do you twist it?

+1. I had the exact same issue, and a pro makes it good a new.

I tried that route, bought a leather dye kit but it didnt fill in the voids, there are finger nail indentations all over it, I guess the car made the last owner nervous

Thanks I did that the colour looks nice and uniform but it still has finger nail marks, should of stated that first.

I had the dealer do this for me, but they told me that you have to yank and twist a bit, really hard to get it off...(that sounds dirty, LOL). You also have to be careful when pulling it off to not slam your hand into the dash, roof, or windshield...since you have to pull so hard once it comes off your hand will fly up hard.

The porsche dealer ended up having to cut my leather handle in half to get it off because they said it was glued too much.

I purchased my new ebrake leather handle from exclusiveoption.com
check them out!

Here's the link to the ebrake handle I purchased:http://shop.exclusiveoption.com/Leat...87-9X7L43A.htm

Check out eBay for that part only, it is replaceable and removal is straightforward.

Hey guys, just restarting this thread. I was able to purchase new leather for the handbrake but I'm having a helluva time getting the old one off. I've tried pulling the button out with no luck and sliding the handbrake forward, it moves freely about a half inch but then feels like it hits something and won't move any more. Anyone have any thoughts?

It's only glue holding it on, no trick to it. Maybe try a heat gun (or hair dryer) to CAREFULY soften the adhesive, but keep it moving so you don't damage the console.
