997.1 front fog light & trunk light not working

Light switch works with green fog light on. Rear fog works without problem. Fuse (C3) is not blown. Light bulbs are ok.
Anyone had this problem before? Thanks for sharing!

I had a frunk light not working in my 997.2. Luckily it was fixed under warranty as there's a controller switch which needed replacing, and it's located inside the front bumper. Would have cost quite a bit to replace.

No fuse for fog light, but the fuse for front end controller & light switch (C3) is fine without problem. Light bulbs are fine too. This is very strange.

Check the red push thing on the fuse box and make sure it's fully depressed. A short may trigger it and you will lose power on the trunk's light area.

Checked that but not helpful. Could be front control unit problem but all other lights (hi/lo beam, side markers, rear fog, tail lights) are working except fog & trunk!

I got the same issue. Dealer looked at it and said its a faulty light switch but when I swap the actual switch with my friend (he got identical car) the lights still didn't work and mine switch worked fine in his car. What's interesting that with durametic I was able to make the fog lights work. I head dealer replace from end control module some time ago. Maybe they missed some programming or something.

I just had my front control module replaced and am now having this same problem. I think that the shop incorrectly programmed it but I went over there and we couldn't figure it out. Anyone ever find out the reason for this issue?

Did you go back and had it reprogrammed?

Hello Forbes,

I have exactly the same problem. New switch didn't work but could make it work with software tool.

Did you go back to the dealer for programming?

Thanks for sharing.

Fixed!

I had this same issue (on my 997) of the frunk light and fog lights not working, but had it resolved today at my local Porsche dealer. The front control module needed to be "reset" to talk to the rest of the car...said my service advisor. They were really great about it and only charged me 1/2hr labor. That, combined with the free car wash, came out to be much less than I expected.

I noticed this issue when I purchased the car, but didn't think too much of it. When I spoke to the previous owner, he mentioned he was polishing the headlights and the static charge fried the front control module. I believe he had the front control module replaced by his indy, but only "coded" with the durametric tool. When I first got the car home I tried reprograming/reset/coding the module (via durametric), but nothing worked. It appears you need the Porsche PIWIS software to do this.

Hope this helps.

good to know, thanks. I'll remove the headlights when/if I'm going to polish them.
