Tire pressure...

997.2 S with factory 19" wheels and factory tires. Recommended cold tire pressure is 44 PSI. This setting rattles my skull. Every crack on the road is felt with a reverberating thunk. I tried to decrease the cold tire pressure to 42 PSI and it is better. However, on very hot days, the thunks get annoying. I can resolve all issues by driving much faster than the posted speed limit but this has limitations due to the boys in blue. What cold tire pressure do you members use?

There was an earlier thread https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-pressure.html

Still seems pretty high but those 19" wheels have a low profile.

I'm running 19's as well and run way lower than that. At that pressure you're rolling on rocks. Set cold pressures to 33/37 and see how that feels.

As mentioned in the other thread referenced by Merv... the recommendations from the manual:
37 Front / 44 Rear is for fully loaded (2 people + luggage).
34 Front / 40 Rear is for partial load

Assuming you don't normally have passengers or carry heavy cargo, then 34/40 is probably best for your comfort.

The factory recommended pressures are for fuel economy. If you drive it hard on the twisty roads you need to allow for the increased pressure from the heat you're generating. On a nice drive ;-) I can get the rear pressures to increase by 6lbs.

I'm running pilot super sports and once they cross that 40psi mark they start getting greasy.

I run mine at 33/37 with myself, the wife, two kids the dog, and with luggage for the weekend.

On the track I usually have to bring it down to 28/32 and bleed off from there if needed.

I run 33/39 (997.1 S on 19's) pretty much all the time but if we load up for a trip over 400 miles RT (frunk and back seats full, plus the wife) I take it up to 38/42. Once the weight comes out of the car, I always like to get back to the lower pressure and grippy ride ASAP.

Cold pressures and a partially loaded car I run 34F/37R. Rims are 19" BBS CH-Rs with Michelin PSS 235-35R19s in front and 295-30R19s
