backup sensors

While the 997.2 that I recently purchased had most of the options I would have wanted if purchasing new, it did not have rear parking sensors. I have gotten quite used to them in my daily driver. All that said, can it be reasonalbly installed? I would assume that the wiring harness on these cars are the same, just not connected if the option isn't ordered
All that said, anyone have an idea what the cost would be if able to be added? Thank you.

I don't know if the OEM parking assistant can be retrofitted, but you will definitely have to drill into your bumper to install the sensors. As an alternative, have you seen this thread for a no-drill aftermarket option?...

Thanks for that link! I'll be trying that route. I can backup just fine, but a little extra safety doesn't hurt...

Its a standing assumption that in fact the wiring harnesses in a Porsche are custom built to the car and thus only contain the wires for what you need. Based on that standing assumption, you don't have the wiring from the dash to the bumper cover. Also, you would need to replace the bumper cover as the sensors are embedded in it. And paint, and then add the switch in the gear selector and the electronics. As you can tell, this would be immensely expensive, and not worth it compared to just buying a car with the feature.

The better route is to find an aftermarket solution that might involve a custom license plate frame based effort - but if going there, the backup camera option is a better choice I'd think.

Consider installing a HP-905 laser shifter. It can be used in a excellent park assist mode as well as helping out if you get a bit of lead foot.

When I bought my 991 it had every single option I wanted except the sensors. I couldn't believe whoever ordered the car left that out but added 25k in other options. I was pretty bummed at first but after driving it I noticed they really weren't that necessary. Good luck with the install if you decide to pursue it though.
