Help me purchase 997.2 - Value and Heated seat question

Looking at a 2009 997.2 coupe 4s 'launch car' at a dealer

19k, no accidents. Meteor Grey with Black Full Leather, PDK, the car is perfect.

What is fair market value in NJ for something like this?

Honestly, I'm undecided about the seats and I may sell the Sport Buckets.

How difficult is it to put heated seats in?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Sport buckets are highly desirable. Don't swap them, but if you do, it would be easy to find someone to swap with. No idea of what it takes to make heated seats work.

Edit... Is this at a Porsche dealer? CPO?

Non Porsche Dealer, so I do have a little warranty with it, and can purchase an extended warranty. It's not a cpo.

Swapping the seats is not a problem, but heated seats may be. You are missing the switch and associated wiring in your center console. Agree that keeping the car intact is the way to go, especially if you plan to track it at all.

Heated seats require wiring and controllers and switches in the center console that will be missing. So if you want factory heated seats you need to add a lot of stuff. Probably cost prohibitive. Heated seats can be extended (factory) to a heated steering wheel. I'm not sure how the wiring for all that is set up - if the OEM harness includes wiring up to the steering wheel column, or if this interconnect happens over a common bus. If the OEM heated seat switch is an analog switch to adjust level, or if it is a smart switch that talks to a controller via a bus.

The dumber/simpler the switch, the easier it will be to just add the switch to drive just the seat (and not worry about any wiring but between the switch and the seat.

If the launch car is clean, and it sounds as if it is, I would keep it as is and learn to live with the seats. I would think low to mid sixties for this car, assuming a full PPI with no issues.

was just talking to a P DEALER in NJ and they said the 09s (997.2) are in demand and not easy to come by at this point.
I would agree with low/mid 60s if the car is right.

I know everyone is saying live with the seats, but I'm not sure the wife can, and that is a deal breaker. I already have a track car, so I may buy it and swap to 12 way power seats and forget the heated part.

Other than ebay, is there a place to look for 12 way power seats in black?
Do early 997 seats work, or do they have to be a 997.2 seat?

You should be able to use any 997 seat, though ebay is very likely the cheapest place you are going to find them. Shipping cost will be high and you will not even want to ask the cost at the parts counter of a Porsche dealer. I still have the original heated seats from my car stored away somewhere though they are not black. My advise find a car with what you want in it from the start.

repairing factory heated seats is cost prohibitive. Installing them yourself would be nominal if you know how to remove and replace the leather.
Wife's SLK and Lexus that she previously owned required to entire seat pad to be replaced. Several hundred dollars.

I strongly agree with MrPrice, just wait and find a car configured the way you want it or you may regret it in the long term.

Not to make it more difficult for you, but just FYI: If you think you'll like heated seats, you might find you'd really like the heated steering wheel too. My car happened to have the heated steering wheel and ventilated & heated seats. I love all of these more than I expected. The heated steering wheel is done just right (heats quickly but does't get too hot... just nice and warm). In Texas the ventilated seats are nice too, but probably not as big a deal for you.

StormRune, beautiful car you have. If you decide to part with it, send me a PM. I am taking the advice of the forum and will hold off for now. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Thanks, but this will be a keeper for quite a while.

Good luck on your search... that can be fun in itself if you assume up front it can take a while and enjoy the time spent looking and learning (although its pretty hypocritical of me to say that!). The right car will come around and you'll be glad you waited for the perfect fit.

I drove it and it seemed to be in pretty good shape. Lots of wear on the drivers door and seat bolsters, seemed like people were in and out a lot.

I decided not to purchase at this time , maybe a forum member will like it
