Has anyone heard of Total Oil? I heard it's better than Mobil One and Porsche approved/certified but know nothing about it. Here is the link:

Thanks! Jon

More popular in Europe perhaps. Any oil on P's approved list will be good. It apparently is a grade 5 full synthetic. That is a good thing. The Motul oils like X-cess or X-clean are grade 5 and use a renewable ie "green" base. Hartec has a small book written on oil and it is worth a read.

Total is a large French oil company. If approved by Porsche, their oil ,should be OK. Better than Mobil 1? There are a number of claims about lubes that are better than Mobil 1. I guess any are OK if approved by Porsche. I, for one, will stay away from ester based syn lubes. Esters cans swell seals.

Very popular in europe, long history of synthetics.
Have used the quartz 7000 and 9000 series when I used to live in Europe.
They were the first (over there) to introduce ultra long oil change intervals.
If there is any difference between premium synthetic oils, royal purple, total, castrol, mobil.
I doubt it is a marked difference. At least from my understanding. Non engineering, end consumer aspect

Since Mobile 1 seems to be the benchmark that all other oils compare themselves to, I think I'll stick with Mobile 1.

Well, I'm so glad I have your blessing, sir. However we're discussing the benefits and detriments of various synthetic motor oils here; not violating someones civil liberties. Go wave your flag somewhere else.

My indie, which is a local race shop uses Total Quartz 900. They'll use Motul if bring it in with me but they stand by it.
