ECS Magnetic oil drain plug stripped! Plz help
Apologies - Corrections To Prior Post:
- I will no longer use a recessed Hex or Torx Oil Plug due to the potential of it stripping out. Had it occur once & never again.
- I converted to a Stainless Steel Votex [Magnetic] 18M x 1.5 Oil Plug with 17mm Bolt Head
- This avoids the issue with the recessed OEM Oil Plug from potentially being 'stripped'. The Stainless Steel [17mm Head] is reusable.
- The crush washer should be replaced regardless each time, but the Stainless Steel Nut Oil Plug is reusable.
- Reference: Votex [Made in USA] - DP007 Stainless Steel Engine Oil Drain Plug with Neodymium Magnet.
- Votex also sells a stainless steel 'traditional' recessed Hex 8mm or 9mm plug [I forgot].
- I choose to convert to the 17mm Head plug after experiencing a 'stripped' OEM oil plug.
- For clarity, I am unsure if Suncoast provides/sells them or not. Yet, it completely eliminates the potential of stripping the OEM Recessed Hex Plug.
- Finally, the OEM torque values published by Porsche are:
8mm Allen Socket for Drain Plug: 'Torque To 37 Ft Lbs'
36mm Sock for Filter Housing: 'Torque to 19 Ft Lbs'
