I have no idea what you're talking about. I've been a 6speed member for a long time and have contributed lots of knowledge over the years with absolutely no expectation or need for approval.

Great to hear. I am interested to see how you feel about the AM after the novelty wears off. Post back after a few months of driving or a significant bunch of miles and let us know how the driving experience compares. Later,
G

Congratulations! I've considered getting an 07-08 DB9 as a replacement for the 997, but only if I can find one with the manual gearbox, because I found the auto to be a letdown. Do you still have the 3.2 Carrera in your stable? If so, you have the best of both worlds!!

The early auto (Sportshift I) was a letdown. Sport shift II is a Graziano F1 gear box similar to that in the Ferrari GT cars, and is great fun. Leaving it in auto is alright, a bit jerky on upshifts, and certainly nothing as smooth as PDK, but in manual with sport mode selected it's laughing all day long.

As for the '87 3.2, I just sold it to a very nice gentleman who will curate it's legacy into the future. There were many suitors, and I sold it to the man who really wanted it as a bucket list car, who could afford to maintain it, and who can appreciate it's significance. And he gave me first right to buy if he ever decides to sell.

My wife and I were driving to meet some friends for an adult night out last weekend and we see a black Vantage S on the highway. My wife isn't really a "car person" and often tires of my enthusiasm for different exciting cars. She sees the Vantage and says "whoa, I would totally drive that. That looks sexy, can that be my next car?"

Enjoy the new car. Keep us posted on your evolving impressions.

I agree, the Vantage doesn't look special in pictures, in fact it looks boring (IMO) but in real life, it's a head turner. There is a couple of them driving around my work area. Saw a Vanguish at a restaurant the other day, that is a special looking car, even my 7 old year son walked up to it and asked me to take a picture.

cadamson is infamous around these parts
This is one of the best AM vs 911 Turbo threads I've had the pleasure of reading. Very logical and thought out comments, I love it! I've been researching this topic for the last few weeks, although my dilemma is slightly different.

I currently own a decently modified 996 turbo (K24 turbos, KW3 suspension, etc. making about 600hp), which is a blast to drive, but I rarely drive the car at its upper limits, making all that extra power essentially unnecessary. Lately I've been wondering if I might be even happier with a "slower", but more exclusive car like a V8V. I wouldn't be able to make the jump to a Vantage S quite yet, I would be looking at a 07-09 base Vantage. Are there very many major differences (besides HP) between the S model and the base?

I plan on going on a few test drives to truly form my own opinion, but it seems as though you would be a solid person ask, considering that you actually own comparable cars.
