Door lock/latch issue

Hello all,

I recently disconnected the battery to perform a power steering pump replacement on my 05 C2S (had to remove alternator, better safe than sorry). After reconnecting the battery, my driver door is acting up. When I open the door, the dome lights do not come on and the door chime does not signal with the key in the ignition. The window will lower slightly if I pull the inner/outer handle but as soon as I release the handle the window goes back up; normally it does not go back up until the door is shut. The passenger door functions normally. It's as if the car isn't recognizing when the door is being opened, but if I leave the door open and attempt to lock the vehicle, it recognizes the door is open and beeps to inform me a door is ajar. Is there some sort of reset procedure or reprogramming I can attempt before digging into the door panels and running diagnostics?

It may be related or unrelated, but a week before all this I noticed one of the door lock mechanisms sounded substantially louder than normal when I locked the car, but was unable to determine which one. It doesn't seem to be louder now.

Edit: I hooked up a SnapOn scanner and came back with a code of 8705: door lock signal implausible. I cleared the code and no change. All the function tests are otherwise normal. The passenger door functions normally, the central locking works normally, but the lights do not come on and the window function when open/closing the door does not function properly on the driver side.

Sounds like one of the microswitches isn't working correctly anymore, and it sounds like it's the one by the latch mechanism itself - the one on the end of the door when it's open. I've never been onto a dootlr that fat so can't offer personal experience beyond that guess. With the door open, you might try manually closing and / or wiggling the door catch part of that mechanism to see if it responds at all with window movement. I think it's the microswitch there that keeps the window down when the door and latch are open. Another thing to try might be to just disconnect the battery again for 10 minutes then reconnect it to see if maybe things work right again with sort of a "reboot" before you start taking things apart.

Good luck.

Did you find a solution to this issue? The exact things is happening with the drivers side in my 06 C2S.
