Ideally, I'd like to just access nav directly without having my music begin playing.
Put it on the FM/AM and turn it down - it'll hold your CD wherever it was...

Lack of low-end torque especially for a 3.8 with vario-cam

Third gear is pretty lame at anything below 4500 rpms

The doors sound like a Honda Accord's when closing...Porsche bring back the solid thunk of the aircooled cars!

The stock exhaust system (997S) sounds like crap when first pulling away unless you really rev it.

Why does the psngr window in the Cayman S have full auto-up and the 997 does not?

Good point Chris -- never thought about that.

The fresh air from outside is something I'm still baffled about. There should be some way.

997 things not to like

The inferior key seems to pop the hood all the time.
My Targa 4S with a 95K base price should have more standard options. You should not have to pay another 12k or so just to have minimal things. I guess you could always go to the Lexus if you don't want to dirve ther Pcar with almost no add on options to pay for.

3. Sports seats bolsters get creased and wrinkled after 1 week of usage. Needs more supportive and stiffer foam support that does not allow leather to sag.
4. Black Rubber Trim around windows is so cheap and hard to maintain. Should be aluminum like RS4 (same material used on A4's and looks like crap after a year)
5. 3M rear fender covers have way too much orange peel and will yellow after 1 year (should switch to venture shield film)
6. TPM sensors are not very accurate.
7. Passenger seat vibrates when driving when nobody is sitting on it.

Other than this I am in love with this car.
I agree with all that, except my passenger seat doesn't seem to vibrate

Are any of these issues fixed with the model refresh`that we are expecting to see in Frankfurt this year?

Hopefully the R8 will scare Porsche into improving these details because if there is one thing Audi do well it is interiors. I hear the R8 is a blast to drive, in a recent article in UK magazine EVO they gave the R8 the nodd over a Carrera 4S with Power Pack.

Things I hate about the 997....

The fact I cant afford one

Roll on next year

You could crack your windows, vent the sunroof and turn on the fan (not the A/C - use ECO)... That might work. You might have to experiment a little bit.

I'm a lot easier to please - it's nice out and not humid, windows down. Anything else, windows up, A/C on.

agree 100%

-the alarm system, need some sound. Walk away from the car starring at it to make sure the car is locked
-passenger auto window feature, sucks
-sensitive key fob, damn hood pops up if ur not carefull
-if you have the bose option in your car and turn up the music w/the sunroof shut you hear vibration
-center console flips up, hard as hell to get crap out of there

but what I can say is the driving experience makes all of this go away.

The first two are easily fixed in the aftermarket with the Smart Key product. I think that is what it is called anyways. I have it and it solves those problems.

Really? I've been beating them back with a stick since I got my new ride. Maybe you should cruise around Beverly Hills or West Hollywood for a weekend and see what develops ....

Otherwise, I love this car too.
