There are what i might consider a few quirks, but really the car is as near perfection as any 911 I have ever seen.

I'm on my 4th 911 (996 and 3 997s) and only the 996 (turbo S cab) had any squeeks or rattles and even then only a couple very slight ones. My take:

- The key is POS - breaks apart if dropped and dealer has no fix
- Trunk delay can be improved by dealer or RemoteKey module
- Passenger side one touch window - trivial annoyance - fixed with RemoteKey
- No dip stick - no problem - oil level reading work fine
- None of my cars except the one that was wrecked and repaired had any problem with window streaks so I don't see this as an issue
- No audible beep on locking is a stupid oversight that isn't all bad - sometimes I like to look back at my ride when I lock it :-)
- No factory ipod support when 80% of all new cars have this
- Bose speakers are a POS but better than standard adn the car is too loud to really enjoy the stereo anyway
- Some options should be standard on a car in this range but not a big issue

Overall, none of this detracts from my delight in owning and driving the 911.

The Remore Key takes care of the Audible Beep when locking it too. That was the number one reason I bought the remote key.

My only real gripe is the car is too loud inside at highway speeds with the windows up. To much resonance or road noise or both.

Screw the flat 8. I'm gonna jump on the flat 12 when it comes out in 09.

I'm lurking on this board for some incentive to switch over but I think I'll hang on to my 996 for the time being.
